South Pacific: Fiji

Fiji is an unspoiled, natural environment of extreme beauty where a tranquil, unhurried lifestyle reigns. This group of over 300 islands lies approximately 1,800 miles northeast of Australia and has largely escaped the industrialization of the outside world. Throughout Fiji, a number of outer-island exclusive resorts offer an extremely secluded experience. Most of these resorts contain no more than 15 individual hut-style accomodations, known as 'bures', it is these resorts which we have primarily chosen to present to you.

Vatulele

The development of a perfect tropical escape was the vision of Emmy-award winning Australian television producer Henry Crawford, and his creative partner, Martin Livingston, a fifth-generation European Fijian. The result is Vatulele ( pronounced 'Vah-too-lay-lay'), on one of the southern islands of the Fijian group. It took two years to find the ideal South Seas location, and three more to enhance the natural beauty of the site with man-made luxury where stressed-out guests could escape the pressures of Western society.

Turtle Island

A remote destination in the Yasawa Group in the Republic of Fiji, Turtle Island is the home to Fijian villagers and island devotee Richard Evanson.

Richard acquired the island in 1972 as a personal hideaway. Some years later he and his Fijian neighbors began to extend their hospitality to guests seeking an enchanting respite from their usual cares.

Romantic, intimate, comfortable and friendly almost beyond belief, Turtle Island is a world entirely beyond time and obligations. For adventurous island wanderers looking for a private paradise, this is it.
